Overview of dairy organisational reform process

Dear Industry Stakeholder,

Reform of our industry’s representative structures is a vitally important part of the Australian Dairy Plan, which is set to be released in coming weeks.

These structures - which have served us well for many years – are no longer fit for purpose. This message was delivered loud and clear by more than 1,500 dairy farmers and other industry stakeholders during the Australian Dairy Plan workshops last year.

An overview of the reform process we have embarked on - its objective, proposed phases and approximate timeline - can be viewed here.

Organisational reform is a complex task involving multiple organisations and it won’t be an easy road. Australian Dairy Farmers, Australian Dairy Products Federation and Dairy Australia are leading this reform process on behalf of levy payers and the wider industry. We are committed to consultation and engagement to shape and refine a new structure, before it is presented for an industry vote.

I am confident this approach can deliver the transformational change sought and the creation of a modern, streamlined and dynamic representative structure that reflects the scale and ambition of our great industry, while providing greater value for all stakeholders.

As the dairy reform process progresses you will receive regular updates and please don’t hesitate to contact us by email if you have any questions at contact@dairyreform.com.au.

Kind regards,

Terry Richardson
President of Australian Dairy Farmers and
Chair of the Organisational Reform Steering Committee
